Alan Goldstein

Born: 11/30/75

Born in Miami, Alan started on piano at 7 years old,  ( forced to ) by a very musical household. Alan's late father played sax and piano,  and his grandmother was a singer for showtunes and also singing all the jazz standards. She toured the USA, , cruiseships at sea, Holland and the Netherlands as well.  Alan switched to guitar as soon as he got into heavy metal music, while seeing the kids in middle school in cover bands galore!  Alan was self taught learning Metallica tunes such as "One", and "Master of Puppets" entirely by ear in no time at all. However, Alan could not find a band that needed a guitarist, so he quickly was invited to play bass in a local cover band ( GNR, Metallica, Van Halen songs etc...). It was then noticed the super fast learner, and talented young player had found his instrument and high time he put it to good use! A huge talent show ( 500 people ? ) was a wake up call with what he wanted to pursue , ( the excitement of onstage performance, + playing heavy music!!)   after about 16 years now of playing the bass, recording, and touring all of Florida in a few bands ( Madsic, Trash, Aghora, Abstract, The Agency )  he has found himself back in Aghora...

Alan has 1 solo cd, and is on 2 cd EP's by "Madsic", and 1 "ATM Project" cd ( a internet recording band from Holland/Netherlands, who have never met each other in person!) . Alan will also be on the new Aghora cd, dvds, and the new Santiago Dobles cd TBA.

Alan's major influences have been the great finger style and slap players:::
cliff, geddy, marcus, victor, patitucci, stanley, stu, berlin, trujillo, claypool, manring, jaco, sheehan, willis. etc... and is also inspired by holdsworth, corea, weckl, colaiuta, dipiazza, eckhardt, bela, peart, virgil, and more super talents that he could go on for days mentioning here.

Alan started with 4 string basses, then in 2001 made the switch to 5, 6, and 7's...
he plays fretless basses as well since about 1995...  he is into jazz-funk, progressive rock, classic rock, reggae, metal, flamenco, and anything else that FUNKEN-GROOVES!!!
